Default System for a 01 Quad Cab

Does any one have a system in their qc besides the mtx thunderform box... i have heard mixed comments on the box so i wanted to hear from someone who actually has a system in their truck instead of some one just trying to make a deal..

....dont do them...period...unless it is going to be your first system...i wouldnt even bother...obviously you have the room...depending on what kinda money your looking at...and your needs...i would take it to a local audio shop...explain what you want...and what you need...and see what they can do for ya...i did that...but mine is a bit extreme...and infact im about to make a post about it(i guess it wouldnt be so bad if it wasnt a REG CAB dakota...lol)...anyway...good luck

Room is relative in a QC - I bought mine because it seats 4 comfortably, and 5 in a pinch (even 6 if your friends are skinny), so I wasn't willing to give up the back seat room in favor of a stereo. You can't really put anything behind the 60% side of the back seat otherwise you can't fold the seat up to get at your jack, which just leaves the skinny driver's side.

I went with the MTX because it fit without a big hassle. The amp is one I've owned for about 8 years and works just fine. I have the Infinity stereo with an adapter for my iPod to plug into the cd-changer port, so when I tuck the ipod away the truck looks stock, but it'll make decent enough sound. I wish the freq response of the 10" sub was better down low, but that's a really small box so I guess you can't be too picky.

There are people who replaced the center console with a box though, and it's an intriguing setup, I just use my center console to store too much ****. Maybe someday I'll put buckets in the back and build a center console for back there. We'll see.

That is what I am in the middle of doing. I took out my center console and currently have a 8" Bazooka Tube, but will be creating a box there.

Not a bad setup! How is the sound quality? By the way, your "Thread Killer" sig. is pretty damn funny.

that looks good but how does it sound and is that a 10... i have seen someone just take out the jack and put a box on both sides behind the seats... but that wouldnt be that much room to fire..

It sounds good. I don't have it so much for booming bass as I do sound quality. My days of thumping are over. lol. I just want it to sound good. Don't get me wrong. It still hits nice you're just not gonna set off car alarms or rattle windows with it.

I put Official Thread Killer in cuz it always seems right after I post the thread craps out. LOL. Maybe I should take the hint.

Yep. Its a 10. I think it sounds good but it depends on what kinda sound you're looking for. If you want sound quality this is a good way to go. If you want to blow the windows out then this isn't for you. If anyone is interested I can post the measurements for the box.
