Default Need advice and instruction TODAY Whats that noise

I have a 2000 Dakota v6, It started making a clicking noise right under the cab last Monday. It almost sounded like I was dragging an aluminum can. I drive all day long making frequent stops. Now the clicks have gone to a hi pitched squeal. I was sure it was the U-joints gone bad and had planned on replacing them this morning.. but I went out and checked the drive shaft by shaking and pushing on it and doesn't seem to move. So what else could it be???? Please help. I have to drive 4 hours tomorrow and the my local part store closes and 1:00pm.

driveshafts normally vibrate when you loose a u-joint ,dbl check it with out any load on the drive train park it on a flat surface with out the E-brake on and in nuetral ,free wheel so to speak and check them again

throw out bearing ,hmmmm never heard 1 do that before but stranger things have happened

it is a 4wd?
if so where your drive in 4wd?
