Im guessing i need a belt?
So yesterday i got home and i open up the hood with the engine running because the sound of the intake is just amazing to me i love the sound, any way i notice i started hearing a squeeking noise it was kind of not constant but it came and went, then tonight i was in the drive-thru at Burger King and i had the window down and i could hear it then to just coming and going...so im guessing its my belt? but im not sure so any input would be greatly appreciated
Has the belt ever been replaced? How many miles are on it? I know it's probably not needed, but I change the serpentine belt when I do a tune up. Ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure type thing.

A high pitch squeal that if you but it in neutral, and the sound comes and goes as you reve up the motor, normally it will squeal as you take off and as you get up to speed it will stop then come back at the next stop light........I am sure you have heard other cars and trucks that make that sound at the stop light.
99% sure it is the belt. This happened to me a while back. My belt looked to be in absulutely great shape so I discarded that solution. I ended up replacing the belt tensioner, then returned it because it didn't work. I then replaced a couple other things hoping it would work and nothing. I was at the point where I was ready to replace the altenator clutch because I couldn't figure out where in the world the noise was coming from. My girlfriends father even stepped in (Master Mechanic, I have to bow to this man) and he was even convinced it was the altenator clutch. This is the moment when my girlfriend walks up and asks simply, "Couldn't it be the belt?" I stated that I had already check the belt's condition and it was fine. However, after rolling that idea around in my head for a couple of moments, I figured it out. The belt runs on grooves that are built into the underdrive pulleys. If for any reason these grooves are even slightly smaller or larger than another one in the same position on a different pulley, it is only a matter of time until the belt will start squeaking. I smply replaced the belt, and it went away.
Just a tip for everyone reading this: If the belt you remove is still in working condition, just squeaks, put it in the storage bin under the seats in the back, or any other place you have a little extra room. In the unlikely, but very serious, case that your belt breaks, you will have a backup.
As always, just my $.02

I can only hear it when im in idle, not pressing the gas or anything and it just started, could it be something with the cold weather?

I still have a feeling it is the belt, but who knows. The reason you only hear it when you are idling is because that is when the least amount of tension is on it.
