Try this:

Don't know if the location for '97 is the same, but if it is, that thread will take you there.

I dont think they are the same. The part number is different and I have taken the glove box completely off and cannot see where it would go. I have the part but cannot imagine where it would go.

I also have a 97 Dakota and I've been going crazy trying to find the resistor. I've been getting a slight burning smell coming from my air ducts when I drive. That is the only thing that I can think that would cause that. I have read over and over that the resistor is loacated behind the glove box. The glove box is easy enough to remove, but I can't find anything behind it. I even bought a resistor to see if I could identify what the plug would look like. I had the parts guy at the dealer show me his "exploded view picture" to see where it goes. The picture was very sparse and was no help. If you ever find out where it is, let me know. I have no clue.

Last blower resistor I had before my current one was a 21 year blonde that was absolutely smokin! I bypassed the blower and went right for the internal combustion.

Hello

My friend has a dakota, 2003, and it has a problem with something related to the blower motor.

doesnt operate, no matter what speed is selected.
fuse is not blown
motor operates when connected straight to a 12v source.

the resistor plate doesnt look wierd but i dont have a known operating reference to compare it to.

what should i check next?

i couldnt verify continuity through the resistor plate because i did not have a multimeter at that time.

Thanks in advance
