Default HEATER PROBLEMS

im having heater problems with my 98 dakota 5.2l. when im drivng there is good heat, but when i come to a light or just idling it blows just barely warm air . soon as i take off its ok. what do you guys think it is

weild I heard of that when the AC is on but never the heat. I will see what mine does today when I drive home and repost.

It could be that your thermostat is sticking and not regulating like it should, this will cause warm air in your heater instead of hot air. When you speed up from stop the engine is working harder and heats up again.

I just experienced the same exact problem. You might just be low on coolant. When the coolant gets warm it heats up the heater core causing warm air to blow into the cab. Watch your temp guage when you come to a stop, if it starts to go up then definately check the coolant. I just drained what was left in mine added 50/50 coolant/water to it and it works fine. If that's not it then it could most likely be a thermostat issue.
