Default Not another exhaust question...

So I am going to a local muffler shop tomorrow to get dual exhaust put on my truck. I am going with a 50 series Flowmaster, just so the interior isn't quite so loud. Tips will be stainless steel. My question is.. what style tips would you all recommend? Also what position do you recommend on the pipes? Rear? Side?

I was thinking of dual passenger side either in front or behind the tires. What do you all think?

I don't know of any other style tips besides the slant cut end. I personally like rear exit better.

Personally I like the look of a rear exit. But it all depends on personal preference. Which ever you chose im sure you'll be happy with it.

If you tow a trailer, get side exit. It'll keep carbon off your trailer better. I'd skip the dual tips though, imho waste of money and it just adds weight for no performance gain, unless you're going manifold-back dual with dual cats, H/X pipe, dual muffler and out.
Also, if you exit in front of your tire you'll wind up fumigating your wheel/tire. I've heard people with the f150s that had that exit location from the factory complain about discoloring their wheel.

you should also consider getting the duals knocked down to 2.25" dual outs... otherwise you will loose low end torque & mileage...

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I ended up going for the Flowmaster 40 series, single in/dual out, with pipes straight out the back and chrome slant tips. I'll post up some pics tomorrow when it gets light outside.
All I have to say about it is WOW! My truck sounds amazing! Very deep and loud, but not obnoxious inside the cab. I would definately recommend the Flowmaster 40 to anyone with a 4.7L.

My pipes are 2.5" out of the muffler, I don't notice any decrease in power at all, it does however feel quicker. Although that is just my feeling.

Muffler alone won't add enough power that you'll actually be able to feel it. Shoot, with a full exhaust you're looking at 15-20% max, which you might be able to feel. Better noises stimulate other senses though, which makes it seem more powerful.

i got the flowmaster 40 series single in dual out with some stainless steel slanted tips. but my tips arnt the rough edge slant. they are a rolled over slant. its more clean looking i think. i'll post pics of it tomorrow when its light out.
