2" key lift questions.....
So I have and want to install the 2" torsion bar keys that lift it up. My question is what if the person before me torqued the bars to get the extra 2" inches, but I want to put it back to stock torque then put in the 2" keys. How would one know by looking at it that someone has cranked em up?
How many turns was it from stock position to raise it 2" so I know how many to back it off then mark it for keeping the alignment close?

iirc it is 8 turns to raise it 2".
I'm lookin to put the 2" keys in mine over the winter too. I just want to know whats really the difference bettween cranking the T-bars 2" and the 2" keys.

I"m not sure how to tell if someone has cranked them already or not. I know there is a way I just don't remember it off the top of my head. Sorry.
The difference between cranking them two and putting the 2in keys in is, if you just crank them it makes the bars really tight and make the ride pretty rough. Buy putting the 2in keys in you get the lift but it keeps the stock ride. Either way you go you're gonna wanna get new shocks that are 2in longer as the stockers will be maxed out. If you plan on using blocks in the rear you will have to do the same back there.

ok, so the 2" keys will raise it without putting pressure on the bars like cranking them does. I wanna just level mine out cause my front end seems to sag quite abit. but I guess if you raise the whole truck 2" it shouldn't be as noticable. the biggest tire I would go would be like 32". I have 31" on now, but I just want something bigger. and with my SS bumper cover I'm limited to tire size. and I just want my truck to sit higher.
do you know how hard it is to install the keys?

Buy the directions its super easy. No special tools. The main part you have to pay attention too is the counting of threads and marking alignment off, so that when you put it back together its good enough to drive down and have it aligned.
Its sounds like we have the same truck except your is an ext cab and mine fits 32's no problem as is, but I wish I would have done only 10.5 wide as the 11.5's rub on any decent turn.
Daksport, since your here, I notice you have what looks like american racing mojave wheels, that right? Does the backspacing help witha wider tire and the rubbing? I am looking at american racing ar-767's myself.

I am not sure of the crank and key combo, but I believe that any larger key will throw off the geometry of the front end and will not keep alignment very well. Although that is word of mouth type info, so don't hold me too it.

Thanks alot.
That reminds me to go get a chiltons and get rid of this crappy haynes. The haynes only shows how to mark it, take them off and then put back on. Nothing about what to do if you are starting from sctratch or don't have them marked right.
