RE: Loud Radiator Fan
I have an 02 Dakota 4x4 with the 4.7 as well.
It was in a wreck (clutch fan is messed up).
Ijust want to run an electric fan on this (no clutch fan).....
I have the big nut cut off the clutch fan assy
in case I would need toinstall it on the water pump pulley.
Is there anything special i have to do when doing this?
thanks in advance

RE: Loud Radiator Fan
hooking up an electric fan is fairly easy. you can buy the kits to convert it but there pretty expensive. I was thinking on putting an electric fan on mine over the winter. you can just hook it up to a toggle switch and then you can turn it on when ever you want. I'm not sure how you would hook it up to a sensor to turn it on automatically though. and mounting it is pretty easy. just get 2 pieces of flat bar and run then across the rad. then bolt the fan to it and your set.

Flex a lite doesn't have a set up for us yet, but they did tell me to run
the 290 (i think....)...
this fan is for the ford mustang, has a shroud, pulls
twice as much air (and if it can keep a 5.0 Mustang cool, then i would think
it would keep our 4.7 cool).......
only bad thing is.............it cost over $400.....ouch
I am going to the boneyard and gettinga fan assy off of a TransAm or Mustang ($50...plus you can get replacement motors seperately cheaply).
Then you can get a coolant fan sensor from GM that will close its contacts at
a certain coolanttemp...with that, you can control a relay that will supply power to the fan......turning on the A/C will still activate it as well.....
