Default tow hooks

I've spent the last 2 hours reading all kinds of pages, some on this forum, some all over the net, and no one has givin a clear answer whether or not there are tow hooks available for the 2000 and up dakota. aparently the front end changed after 99 with the rack and pinion steering. I have 2 holes in my valence and pre drilled holes for hooks, but apparently there are no hooks available for my dak, and the only options are to custom make something, get a front hitch, or get a lift and mod chevy hooks... Is this really true? Has anybody managed to find a set of hooks for these trucks?

Dunno, but good point. I've got a shackle mount for my receiver hitch out back, but hadn't thought too much about up front. Post up if you find something. I'm going to ponder it as well.

I almost picked up some tow hooks off an jeep grand cherokee, but I wasn't sure how I could mount them. Good luck in your search!

Eric.

As far as I know there aren't any tow hooks made for the Gen IIs. Some guys have bought some universal ones and rigged them up to come out the holes for them. Don't know exactly how they did it though. I'll have to see if I can find the threads where I've seen it.

Message:
You cannot just buy tow hooks. You need either a towhook kit (Dodge dealers sell them) or a front receiver hitch (www.etrailer.com).

Almost anything can be made to work with the proper know how. I have seen some universal bolt on ones attached to the frame and welded for added strength.

Gen 2's did have tow hooks, but it's a rarity. I've seen both Durangos and Daks with them, and the holes are at the very bottom of the front bumper, and there are 2 hooks peeking out. I've seen them on an 03 so I know you can get them past 03... just a matter of finding them
