Default running rich

I recently came to the conclusion that my 2000 3.9 is running rich. I smelled some gas in my barn today so I checked my exhaust and there was black soot[:'(]. I dont really have any experience working with fuel injection or computerized vehicles so are there any suggestions other just a tune up?

Check your air filter, and consider moving to an air filter that allows more flow, i.e. a K&N. Also, check to make sure that your gas tank/lines/filler are not leaking.

pull it out and see if it is really dirty sometimes you can spray them with some electrical cleaner and it helps but usually you just need to replace them. the only other way to tell if its bad is to have your truck put on a computer
