Default My first Brake job 2003 4x4 (let me know if I am missing something)

Hi All

Got my truck last week certified and found these brakes and rotors

After some advice from this forum and research on parts decided to do a complete brakes job.

Rotors pads andparking brake shoes raybestos good quality
calipers re-manufactured

took the back off first; 2 bolts came out easy;terrible brakes

Next cleaned up removed some rust; want to do more but for now just concentrating on the brakes
Put parking brake shoes on with new hardware kit

Rotors 2 coats of por15 gray and finish engine paint gray

Rotors 1 coat so far will finish tomorrow

Will continue as I reinstall

what is the question....? in my opinion painting the rotors is a waste of time, unless you are going to do it every 6 months...they will rust and the paint will come off due to the extreme heat painting the calipers can work well and does add style what did you use under your paint?

Looks good, too bad no one will see it, and it will most likely chip off; unless you used a high temp paint/primer.

You can see it; but even if not I like to do good work if I do it all.
I used 2 coats of por15 which is good to 700 degrees and the blue is por15 engine paint

I willnever have brakes looking like this flaking with rust

No question here
I had my questions before I did this job (and were answered)
Just wanted to contribute in case someone else wanted to see how to do brakes.

there is such thing as paint that is specially made for calipers.

I have used por15 on my bronco brakes a year ago
still like new
going with what has worked for me

over the past 5 years have been using many rust paints including eastwood
As far as I'm concernedpor15is the best
a close second is rust bullet also used it on some parts and stands up real well up here in Canada winters
