Finished putting them in Tuesday night.
His Dakota had the Infinity sound package, so I was able to remove the factory tweeter from it's mounting bracket and with the help of my friend's Dremel drill I modified it to fit the new tweater in the factory location, worked out real slick!
The woofer fit in the location of the factory one without a hitch, the kit came with all the hardare needed for the woofer.

I mounted the crossovers near the passenger kick panel. We had to remove the panels to run an extra set of wires into the doors, that was the biggest hassle of the job. We had to take out the amp to do this and cut into the factory wiring at the same time. I actually mounted the crossovers to the plastic heat // AC duct with 2 sided sticky tape, it actually turned out pretty good.
THe crossovers are out of the way but we can still access the switch on the side which has a flat seeting or +3dB for the tweaters.

My son says the bass is about the same but the originals we took out were shot. The cheap foam ring around the cheap factory paper conehad seperated from the frame at many points, no wonder they sounded like ****!

Guess we shoulda taken pics of the job...

 

Where is the factory amp mounted? I have the whole infinity system in my truck. I was told from best buys the amp is madeinto the head unit then some other guys said it's under the drivers seat. Well there isn't crap under my seat but a soda bottle (LOL).

 

The Infinity amp is behind the passenge kick panel which just snaps out after you snap off the long plastic piece that covers the edge of the carpet. Undo 2 bolts, push up the amp and tilt the bottom in towards the center of the truck and it comes out.
We have the manual, if you're cutting into the wiring and need info on what wires let me know.
