Default Mileage difference

Hey guys, I'm shopping for a dakota that's going to be used to haul my raptor to the dunes and tracks and also be my daily driver... so not only do I need the ability to haul 500+ pounds of quad and parts in the bed, but I also need low operating cost and good mileage.

With that in mind, I'm looking at two trucks right now, both are the same price. One is a 4.7L 4x4 regular cab with 86k miles.... the other is a v6 2wd regular cab with 36k miles.

Which do you guys think would better suit my needs? And is there going to be a big mileage difference between the two? It seems like I might be safer with the v6 model because it has much fewer miles and is two years newer, but I'm concerned about the 2wd and the v6.

Any thoughts?

If it were me i would go with the 4.7 it will get better gas milage and it still has a low miles and it 4x4 just incase you may need it down the road. But i also guess i depends on the price to of each of them but i would go with the 4.7 all around better then the 3.9 in my oppinion

Go with the V8 the V6 lacks power and down the road you will want the V8 and possibly the 4 wheel drive too. Becasue i own both a 4.7 and a 3.9 and i like the 4.7 alot better then the 3.9 much more power. IMO

I would go with the V8. they get the same milage, if not better then the 3.9. plus has alot more power for towing. and since there the same price and bothhave low miles. I would go with the one with the V8.

The v6 has 36k miles, the V8 has 86k miles...

86k is low miles for a Dak?

what years are they?

mine has 205,000kms and is still running strong. these motors last forever.

I dont know much about the 4.7's but the 3.9, 5.2 and 5.9 are bullet proof.

im about to turn 98000 miles on my 01 quadcab 4.7 4x4 and it still runs very strong. i would go with the 01 v8 that would def. haul your 500+ pounds. but before you decide look them over and ask questions like...How Often was the oil serviced? or Has the vehicle ever pulled a trailer.
And make sure there is no rust holes in the frame. Good luck!
