Default replacing window regulator

Hi,
Does anyone have any tips on replacing a power window regulator on the drivers door of a 2001 Dakota Quad Cab? The plastic cable guide on the bottom broke and I want to replace the unit. Do you need the window up or down? Any secrets?

Thanks

Your window will have to be all the way up. Once you disconnect the regulator, there will be nothing holding the window in.. so, put it all the way up, and tape it to the top of the door (tape it well.. so it doesnt fall). Then it won't be in the way and you can take out the broken regulator and drop the new one in. Search google for window regulator replacement, im sure you can find some pictures somewhere.
