Fixing to purchase a CAI for a 05-06 3.7 liter Dak, and i'm going to stuff itinto an 04 3.7 liter Dak. This is due to the fact that no one makes one for my year model and its driving me up the wall. My question is, should i try to make the dustshield that comes with the kit work or make one or just accidently forget to install it and make a bracket to support the end that the filter is on? Also are there anyaftermarket injector kits or injector nozzles for my application.

It's actually a heat shield, not a dust shield. And yes you should definatly make a heat shield of some sort. Otherwise it isn't a cold air intake, it's a hot air intake and you'll actually LOSE more performance than you gain. Always try and isolate the filter from underhood temps.

RE: Opinions please
Would aluminum be the best way to go for the heat shield, and i also found something of interest at trueflow.com and was wondering if the intake tube in the link provided is worth purchasing or not?

RE: Opinions please
I would purchase the tubing if you are going to upgrade the filter. However, I would go with a different setup all together if there is one available.

If you are running a drop-in filter, you are still not getting the effects of an unrestricted air inlet. The stock air filter box doesn't allow enough CFM of air. By purchasing and modifying a kit that uses a heat shield, orunrestricted, ambientair through the fender, you are allowing your motor to access a larger amount of air than the stock air box. When dropping in a fliter into your stock air box, yes you are allowing less restricted flow, but not as much as other intake options.

RE: Opinions please
So what if i went with a combo of the true flow tube with a filter on the end of that and a good ole redneck customaluminum heat shield? Also i've studied very closely and the intake of an 04 dak with a 4.7 and my 3.7 and it looks like i could almost get away with putting k&n's CAI for the 4.7 on mine?
