Default 98 A/C not working

Bought my 98 without A/C working. Had it charged was hot next day. he told me the system held vacume for 15 minutes. according to him that is the standard time to verify system tight. Took it back to garage, tech said it had a leak, put dye in system recharged. Hot next day, He could not find a dye leak under hood. His opinion was the evaparator core would need changed. I really don't want to pay for the truck again...Anyone haveideas how to fix without costing me my retirement fund.

I am parting a running 95, will the evaporator core out of this truck work in the 98?

the evap core isnt expsensive, its the time to put one in. you have to remove the whole dash. it a PITA to do. I replaced my heater core in one weekend taking my time. I could probly do it in less then 5 next time. theres just alot of hidden screws holding stuff on. I would say if your not that mechanically inclined, then save up and let a shop do it

Comparing part numbers off NAPA's website, it may work.
