Default New lift kit..cheap...check this one out!!

Ok guys my goal is to put Cooper Discovery SST's 305/70/16's tires (33.5" x 12") on my stock wheels on my 01 Dakota 4x4. I've seen and have pictures (for the non believers) of this same set up on a 03 Dakota 4x4 with only a 3" body lift. Believe my guys this thing was SWEET!!! Anyways I absolutely HATE and do not want a body lift AT ALL. I have however found a company that sells a 3 inch suspension lift for $180 total. This set includes 3" blocks and u-bolts for the rear, and a torsion bar extender for the front. The company claims a total of 3" of lift with the kit and properly aligned front wheels. Do you guys think this will work??

Here's a link to the product in question.

well i've got 31's with no lift so i suppose if you lift it 3 inches you could fit a 2 and a half inch taller tire. i believe virused has 33's on his kota ask him about his lift

I know that a 33" tire will fit with a 3" lift.......I was wondering if this product really gives you 3 full inches. With the blocks in the rear I'm sure it will but I don't know about this torsion bar extender thing. I just don't see how you're gonna get 3" of lift just by cranking the torsion bars. Normally you only get like 1/2" max when you crank them all the way.

The "torsion bar extender thing" actually reindexes your torsion bars so you should get about 2 inches of lift when you put the reindex key in without having to crank your bolts. It is for all intent no different than just cranking your torsion bars which should give you 1.5 to 2 inches on their own. What I believe it does, is give you the 2 inches without having to max out your adjuster bolt. Theoretically you would still have a good range of travel (both in and out) on the bolt and could possibly get to 3 inches by cranking the bolt in from the re-indexed position and also have good travel on the bolts to keep the front nice and level. I have however heard that you don't want to go over 2 inches in the front. More than that will increase wear of CV's, ball joints, etc. I can't say that with certainty but itwhat I've heard.

I've been wavering on doing this or just cranking the bars and getting blocks separately. If you go this route in install it, let us know what you think.

I actually did the re-index key thing. Basically your just replacing the torsion bar anchors with ones that have a different angle to them. This does nothing different then cranking your torsion bar anchor bolt. Yes you would be left with more bolt with re-indexing, but who cares about how much bolt is left. The ride quality will be much stiffer either way too. In my opinion, I would have just cranked the anchor bolts and been done with it.

You will incur severe rubbing with 33.5" x 12" tires with stock wheels. I don't even think you will be able to run your OEM plastic liner that seperate the motor from the wheelwell. I know that when I put my 33x12.5 on, not only did I have to remove the liner completely, I also had to trim the front plastic bumper, and some of the metal bodywork that is directly behind the tires on both sides. Be careful with the torsion bar lifts. As stated before, anything over 1.5-2 inches will start to accelerate the ball and cv joints. Ride quality will also suffer. However, going with a tire that large with the torsion lift will give you substantial ground clearance, if they fit.

Let us know what you decide.
