My wife tried to roll down the window when it was frozen over and heard a POP. Ok, I need 2 things

1. How do I get the door panel off the opener and the power locks?

2. Where can a get a good price on a window motor assembly and how hard is it to put in?

 

the door has a couple screws in it and the rest are clips.

but you might has broken a strap thats in there.

cn you hear the motor at all when you press the button?

 

download the manual, it shows you all you need to know......I have posted a link to the Dakota 2001 manual and it pretty much covers the Gen2 regardless of the year long as it is a Gen2.

 

Yes, lil is right. Download the manual.It sounds as if the plastic clip at the bottom of the window has broken off. You can reattach it with some very strong, 2 part epoxy.

 

I know the strap is off, but the motor sounds really weak too, I don;t know if its just the cold weather or what. Can some post a link to the manual??? I would SO GREATLY appreciate it. The Dealership here says the motor and assemblt is sold as one piece and its lie 300 bucks. I told him f*&k you I can get it online for less than 100 for the whole thing.

 

I haven't had this happen to the Dakota Ive seen it allot on GM cars and once you break the clips you may as well replace them they will re-break over and over, hard part is finding just the clips, I have not ever been that lucky, go with the new window regulator and track assembly...


I wasn't sure on the door removal instructions she was taking about here is a link i found, its for mirror replacement but it will do that same for you changing the window glides etc.
