I did an experiment with my truck
I started washing it at least once a week.
the truck stays mostly clear of snow while my sunfire needs to constantly be scraped off
plus, it looks better
so do your truck a favor, spend a couple bucks, all you really need to do is get the grime off
just hosing it off dosen't work too well
{I take it to one of those laser washes.costs me $5 for the basic and $10 to really shine}
yep...I live in Iowa i just buy a season card bout $200 bucks for full service wash, I can go every day if I wanted to this is the best way to go... and being a inside wash they dry it too!
I havent washed my truck since the begining of winter. theres no point here. your truck will get dirty just driving down the road when you leave the car wash. but once spring comes. I'll take acouple hours and wash her really good.
As shnormo stated, get the salt off. You can have all the dirt, mud and grime on your truck you want, its when you have salt on the truck is when you start to have problems.
I agree that the salt does initial damage, but its the sand and grime that holds in the moisture against you truck and causes the real long term cancer.
How could salt get between the undercoat and metal?? It's adhered directly to the metal. It's not like it's 2 seperate pieces. As long as it's clean when you do the undercoating it should stay free and clear of rust for a long time.
