Default Good or bad trade?

I was hoping some of you guys could give me some of your thoughts on this trade I almost made. I have a 99 Sport 4x4 5 sp. V6 Club cab. It has no air conditioner and no power windows or locks. I bought it for $7200 with liscense and registration when it had around 105,000 on it. It came with a suspension lift, Lund running boards, a grill guard, and 31 inch tires. Since then I have done the following: manifold gasket replaced:$500, entire new rear brakes except rotors $500, new catalytic converter $300, flowmaster 40 $130, changedfront and rear diff. fluid, regular oil changes as necessary, and new plugs and wires which i did myself, and an alignment. It now has about 120,000 miles on it. I almost traded it for a 99 Ram 1500 with dual exhaust just because i want a v8 and an automatic.(also the duals) It has 107,000 on it and was going for 9900, then 7700, and then online for 6000. When i drove it, it seemed like it needed a tune-up, alignment, and the check gauges light was on. This made me not want to trade straight up anymore. Also it did not have a radio at all, and i put a pioneer in mine not too long ago. I really want an automatic, air conditioning, and duals. But the check gauges ligtht scared me away. They eventually asked me how much over the 6000 they would have to offer me to trade. I said I didnt now since they wouldnt put the Ram on a scanner for me, and I left. What could the check gauges light mean? They all seemed to read normal...what is the worst thing that it could be? How much over the 6000 should I have asked for? Or is it good that I didnt trade?

Did they have all service records for it? Why would they not scan the code? Something sounds fishy to me.

They said they didnt have any service records, and they said I could go somewhere and scan it myself before i bought it. I didnt really have time or money to do it that day. Why pay a hundred bucks to tell them what the problem is. They should have a scanner there shouldnt they? Could the check gauges be due there being no radio/head unit at all?

I was almost gonna make the same trade as you were. I was gonna trade the 99 dak for a 96 ram 4x4 318 with 350,000km 2" lift and 33" tires plus he was gonna give me 4k on top of that. but I backed out. I'm just gonna build my truck up instead, and have something alot more reliable.

im going to agree with the guys on this one i wouldnt touch that unless you know the guy and know that he is honest and not just trying to screw you over, but if you really want it, then have them fix the check gagues light for you and then consider it based on the rest of the truck, just my .02
