Default keyless entry

Hello I am a newbie to this forum and a new dodge owner. Well i guess i should say new to me. I just recently purchased a slightly used 2000 dakota, 4.7 liter, 84260 miles, club cab, painted in two tone bronze and gray. But My question is How do I tell if the truck was supposed to come with one of those little keyless remotes. My other question is was my truck supposed to only have one key for both door and ignition, because I have a key for each. My ignition will not open my door.

thank you

my 01 came with a keyless entry remote and the ignition key works in the doors. most likely one of the door cylenders broke and they replaced all the cylenders and had to get a different key. if you want a remote you can pick one up off ebay for cheap, just got to get it programed by a dealer or some one with the scann tool to program it. the dealer ussually charges 70$ to program.

i think if it came with that stuff...the key would be grey instead of black?I may be wrong on that, but I know Dodge made 2 different color keys. If you have nothing, it should be black.

But anyway...I know mine doesnt have keyless. I'm workin on that stuff right now, but right now the module hates my truck or vise versa

my truck has keyless and it has the black key. so I dont know. and my key works in he door and ignition, so some one must have either replaced the door cylendars or the ignition.

Zup y'all, I am new to this because I never thought I would have any information worth sharing but lately I been really into my truck and this keyless entry was one of my questions. How can I tell if I am one of the lucky ones to just purchase a control, program and PRESTO! keyless entry.
Well I found this link that will take you to a site that will check by your VIN# if your truck comes with keyless entry. I hope this is helpful to y'all.
If clicking on this link wont take you there; try copying it and pasting it on your address bar and press enter:

WOW!!! $120 Why is it more to program a key than a key fob?! I had to do a chip key for my wifes Ford it was under $40.
