Default A question.

So yea... I have a 98 Dodge Dakota Sport and I have a problem/questionwith it. It has a bit of a problem when shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear I beleive. I am assuming that this would mean there is a problem with the transmission. Any ideas what the problem might be?

What are the symptoms? does it jump/jerk?

most likely it's worn out gears but It could be a host of problems, but more info would help

It has about 90000 miles on it. I guess I should mention that is an automatic right? Well between 2nd and 3rd gear it takes a little while to get 3rd. Like the RPMs goes up real high and then it goes to 3rd or if I release my foot from the gas pedal it will go into 3rd.

Sounds well-worn, get it checked by a transmission shop soon, worn gears could actually cause a bunch of problems that might end up requiring a new tranny. a similar thing happened to my moms sunfire and it got to the point where it wouldn't go into any gear
(i had it on ramps when it decided to do this so that was interesting)

I suppose I would need the truck to actually start to do that. Stupid dead battery.

I would check your kick down cable under the hood, the kick down cable shifts the transmisson to a lower gear for passing. it could be stretched might need to tighten.
