Default Oil for 4.7

I've owned my 2000 Dakota for a few months now. I am getting ready to change the oil for the first time and I am needing to know how many qts. the 4.7 requires. Also if any feedback on usingsynthetic vs. petrol. based would be helpful also.

Thanks

My 03 4.7 takes 6 quarts which I fill up with Mobil 1 Extended Performance full synthetic. Sure it costs more but only the best for my baby! From everything that I have read and heard over there years says you should get a small horsepower increase ~10hp or so and it extends the life of your engine.

Check your owner's manual for liquid capacities.
