Default Couple questions...

Will I be able to bolt a 5.2 up to my 5 speed i have in my 97 3.9L dakota now? (Not sure on the exact model, but out of the two types of 5 speeds I've got the heaviest duty one)
5.9 should be the same too, right?
How wide of a tire do you think I can put on a 8" wide rim? probably about 10.5"?
Performance wise, what is the best way to lower my truck? (I'm not looking to drag the doors, I'm thinking about turning my dak into an R/T over the next year or so)

Thanks

but the 3.9 tranny will bolt up to a 5.2 but I don think it will last too long.

Is the 3.9 5 speed any different (less capable) than one they'd put in a V8 ram? I don't know whole a lot of details about the dodge tranny's, but I was at the dealership looking for parts when I was replacing my clutch kit (which I did myself and is not fun) and when the guy ran the number on my tranny he said it's called something like an ascine2 transmission and its pretty much the mac daddy of 5 speeds. When I was working on it, it's almost as big as the C6 we're using on our 700hp strip mustang and its only being used on a weak little V6 midsize pickup.

That info probably isn't very useful but I figured I'd put it out there...

So what options are there to bolt up to the 5.2/5.9 as far as a tranny goes(I thought the 5.9 would work too cause they're the same engine family). I'd definately like a manual. Thanks

I dont know the differences in the trannys, but I would go with a tranny out of a ram.

and the 5.2 is internal balanced and the 5.9 is external balanced.

the daks with the 5.9 never came with a 5 speed.

Yea, I'll have to look into it more. I'd hate to have an auto tranny if I'm gonna take the time to build a mean engine
