RE: 2.5l performance
but atleast with thte turbo you can sell it when you done with it. with the fuel rails, and that, I doubt you can sell them for a good price when your done.
virused psted a link to turbos on ebay a while ago.. I doubt you will need anything that big but they were pretty cheap, or you get on off of a shadow or daytona and put it on your truck. and that would be cheap as hell. fuel rails, injectors, TB. they can add up.

RE: 2.5l performance
true, I'll look into it.
i just think a turbo is a little extreme and would have to wait longer,
I wouldn't mindthe small stuff 'cause i could do them between big mods like shave the truck, airbags, stuff like that
I don't want to roll around with stock wheels for more than a couple months after i 'bag 'er
Hey, what If I put changed the gears?
that would help smaller mods make it to the pavement through the heavy wheels

you could change the gears. what gears do you have in it now? I dont know what the 4 bangers came with. and do you have the 8.25 axle?
the way I see it is, you dont want to be replacing things twice, like lets say you put new gears 500+ and it ends up that the rearend wont work with your design you have in the future. then your out that 500+ get what im saying.and I know it will probly be a while until you do those huge mods. I would do acouple cheap mods to get you by.

RE: 2.5l performance
well i've got 114K miles. I don't think 12 Pounds would be smart anyway on a stock motor
I'll need to redo the entire drive train anyway, I expect to replace everything.
I don't know my gears offhand but i'm pretty sure it is the 8.25. I'll check in the morning
I'm looking for some mods to get a price idea but nothing seems to be out there ( i'm gonna be up late)
if anybody can help with that, I'm already looking at forum sponsers

Dodge has a good? history with turbos. I say that meening they did it a lot, I don't know how many of them were good. A budys Omni GLH could blow the doors another freinds newer Beretta gts. That little thing was FUN!!! Dodge and I'll add a few Crysler's a had a lot of turboed cars: srt-4, Stelth, Dayton, Charger, Shadow, Omni, Caravan, PT Cruiser And then there's all the diesel turbos, just stick with smaller ones like from a Sprinter or Liberty. I loved my 86 Xr4ti, it put out 175 hp. That wasn't bad for back then, out of a 2.3 Ford 4 banger. Great gas milage if you could keep your foot out of it.

I come from a turbo 4 banger background, ie, Nissan/Datsuns. I've turboed everything Nissan has in 4 or 6 cyl and I can tell you that most of the old skoolers ( like me) are going LS1. Turbos are fun but they break often. Just go V-8 and save yourself from the expense and the learning curve. For what I've spent on broken parts, I could have easily paid for a new GTO or C6.
