Where do i Start??
hey guys im new to this site as of today! I have a 2004 3.7L V6 Dodge Dakota SXT.
I was just wondering where to get started? I am seeking more speed than any offroad capabilities. ive been searching all day and still feel lost. is there any good reading on the subject of modifications??
Ive noticed that people start with a cold air intake?? anywhere that will tell me what exactly that is and its purpose?
What are some easy mods that i can do to get my feet wet that arent overly expensive??
Sorry if there are so many questions, but this stuff seems like a lot of fun!
Thanks in advance!

First off, welcome to the site.
Second the search function at the top is your best friend. This subject has been brought up many times, and there are many threads that discuss this.
Also, you have a 3rd gen Dak, the 3.7 V6 is different the the Second gen 3.9 so if I may you might like to address you questions to the third gen forum.

I still think the whole Gen thing is screwed up on this site. lol It's plenty easy enough to tell the 86-90's from the 91-96's.Just because they were both boxy and had roughly the same shape, there were plenty of differences. Every truck that era looked the same. lol I consider my truck a GEN III, but hey... whatever

ok, theres threads about this too.
87-96 GEN 1
97-04 GEN 2
05+ GEN 3
I do not call what they did in 91 enough to make it another generation. even the DODGE website classes it that way.

Something I noticed when I traded in my 2003 for a 2004 seems on the internals they were doing some changes under the hood in 2004 that it still has a Gen2 body but some mods were being made as a pre Gen3, there are a lot of items that will fit the Gen2 97-03 but not my 04, I know that was true on the CAI and on a lift kit I looked at, makes it hard to get some mods cuz you have Gen3 stuff but does not line up the same cuz of the Gen2 body.
