Rear wheel problem
Of course I am a girl so I have no idea what is wrong with my baby "2005 durango w/hemi" stuck down in Mexico. I drove it down the weekend before last. I was going up a small hill with rocks and there was a very loud clunk in the rear end. I parked my durango, because I thought a rock had hit it but there was no sign of damage. I returned to the vehicle, put it in drive and my back wheels are locked. No the parking brake is not on. The engine only revs. The car will roll backwards but will not roll forward. Does anyone know what might be wrong? I am now back home, and my durango is still in Mexico. Do you guys think my warranty will cover a repair at a dodge service place in Saltillo, Coah Mexico?

Your warranty will not cover you driving over a rock. It obviously damaged something in the rear end. Have it towed to the shop and expect the worst. You are having the service done out of the country too so that will play into it a bit.
IF you could get the price in Pesos instead of US Dollars you may save a bit by taking advantage of the exchange rate. Getting them to give a gringa the local price will be tough though.
Good luck.

P.S. Keep in mind, most likely your insurance coverage (drivers insurance) does not cover you in Mexico either. That is something to know if you ever go again and get into an auto accident. You have to add that coverage, if even available, via another policy or an endorsement. Driving in Canada, yes you are okay with your USA auto insurance policy. Driving in Mexico... nope.

I had the dodge dealer in Mexico look at it. The rear differential axle when out. It is completely covered under my warranty and my insurance is paying to have it towed. I guess my warranty and insurance is different than yours. Thanks for your response!

Consider yourself lucky and congrats on getting it taken care of. Traditionally, damage from rough driving over rocks is not covered if they can prove that it what caused the damage. AND US Insurance policies typically do not extend any coverage to Mexico.

IndyDurango is correct about the insurance. Your warranty covered it. But were you to get into an accident in Mexico. You need Mexican auto insurance. Otherwise, you have to pay right then and there on the spot or you are hauled away to jail immediately. No fun....
And I doubt Mexican prisons are the glitzy Ritz-Carlton jails of the United States filled with widescreen LCD screens, Xboxes, etc.
