Default Another question?? Wheel stud size?

Trying to buy some new rims for my04 durango SLT.The guy who is selling me the rims will include new lug nuts that will look better with the rims. He asked me what thread size my current lug nuts were, I had no idea. I took one off and went to the NAPA autoparts store and theguy told me they were 14mm. I emailed that information to the rim seller and he told me that was impossible. He said my stud size should be 1/2" 20 thread size? I have looked everywhere and I cannot find the stud size info anywhere, internet, manual, etc...? Does anyone know what it is? I know the guy at the Napa store put my lug nut on a display that had various stud sizes and told me 14mm. Idid not try it myself as i trusted he knew what he was talking about. I thought I would ask this forum, that has been very helpful to me already, before I went back to the parts store or tried a tire shop. If anyone knows,it would be greatly appreciated! Just want to find out so I can get these rims ordered, cant wait!!
Thank you in advance Forum!!!

well, here is another responseI got from a wheel vendor:

Hello, The size you need is 9/16 with a right handed thread pitch of 18. Probably the reason they say 14mm is all the late model chevys use a 14mm so they ASSume everything else does too. The best place to go is a good custom accessory shop. we always had to get different lug nuts when we put custom wheels on the trucks at the dealer. I dont have any of the type you need........ hope this helps!!

Three guys, three differentanswers? This last answer sounds as if he knows what he is talking about, but so did the other ones? Im ready to switch to another rim so that I can use my factory lugs and be done with it...LOL! I think I will head over to the parts store and give that display another shot, see for myself.

should of listened to that last guy! Took the lug to Checker autoparts and the clerk once again told me 14mm. So I buy a set of lugs, get home hoping to finally get these rims on and guess what. Too small, It must be 9/16 which would be 14.28mm which seems to be correct because these 14mm are ever so slightly too small. They will start on the stud but will notturn. Sotomorrow its back to the store to exchange for the 9/16 lug. Good thing I only pulled one out of the package?? I will update you guyssunday and hopefullybe able to post a picture of the rims on the truck......HOPEFULLY!! They look hot, just would look a lot hotter on the damn durango!Talk to the forum tomorrow and let you know what happens.

I went to every parts store in Madison and nobody sells a set of 9/16 lug nuts. After a quick google searchI found some and actually received them today and they fit, FINALLY. Mystery solved, my 04 durango SLT has 9/16studsif anyone else ever runs into this problem. I will put those rims on this weekend and post a pic aspromised if anyone wants to see what they look like.

All is well that ends well. After a 2hr. project turned into a two week wait forcorrect lug nuts. They arefinally on. They are thePanther, Vector rims with 275/45/20 tires. I love em, what does the forum think?
