05 Durango ?
Ok, so the hubby and I just made the jump from Ford to Dodge. A week and a half ago we purchased an 05 Durango with 35k miles on it. I have a question about the transmission. When I put it in reverse it either dies or doesnt move like its in neutral. I notified the dealer and they put in work order. I just want some info so I can be prepared when I take it in. Does this fall under lemon law? I dont want to regret our decision to buy Dodge, It is a realy great vehicle and we already have plans for some mods to it. Any advise is greatly appreciated and thank you in advance, Andrea
Sounds to me like a torque converter issue. I personally haven't heard of anything like you describe. Fortunately, I have had good luck with Chrysler with warranty issues.
Let us know how it turns out.

Thanks guys for your responses. My hubby noticed it looks like the pan has dropped on the tranny and sealed with silicone. He said its not supposed to be that way and maybe some silicone got into the working parts of the tranny. It's pretty randon so I dont think I'll be able to duplicate it for the tech. It goes in on the 5th, I'll let you know how it goes. Just want it taken care of before my first payment is due. Hope you all have a great day, Andrea
Andrea:
I have had my tranny serviced twice at my local dealer, and both times they sealed the tranny pan back with RTV (silicone). Beyond that, no tranny issues as of 66k.
The first service on your D's tranny should have been 30k, so hopefully that is why you see the sealant.
And, being an 05 with under 36k, you are still under warranty.
Speaking of warranty, if you are the second owners and are in the US, you ought to consider having the rest of the 7/70 powertrain warranty transferred into your name. It will cost you $150 at a dealer, but you will have powertrain coverage for the remainder of 7/70 with a $100 deductible.

Thanks for the info n8ech! We bought our Durango from a Toyota dealer (I was actually wanted a Sequoia). They told us the warrenty was going to cost $3800! they obviously were looking to make a few bucks. I had to go into Dodge today for an alignment after leveling out the D and asked about the 7/70, and sure enough for $150 it is now transferred over. I can upgrade any time before the end of the warrenty for half of what Toyota quoted. Of course the tranny issue will be taken care by the dealer. Thanks again hope you all have a great weekend, Andrea.

Glad to hear that they will take care of it, and that the warranty transferred without a hitch as well.
If you do decide to upgrade the warranty, take a gander at eservicecontracts.com. They deal with Chrysler factory service plans. I upgraded the wifes 05 Grand Caravan 7/70 powertrain back to Maxcare 7/70 for $1320.
