Just like I said, that wasn't a major issue. With the right place fixing it, while an annoyance, it was not that big of a deal. Glad to see it fixed and that we were able to send you down the right path.

Yes I'm glad it's fixed. Coming to this site give great ideas and direction for people that would think maybe it's to hard or impossible to do themselves. And I'm no exception.

I'm looking to do this on mine. I'm getting the tick as well, but it seems to continue on for longer than just start up now. Did you see what your friend used to get it out without pulling everything off?

I was not there when the work started. He just said he drilled a hole in the bolt, used WD and a reverse bit. It came out. He used a tap bit to clean it out put in a new bolt.

Default 2005 Dodge Durango ticking noise.

Thanks United I did what you said about the studs in the exhaust maniffold. Just one stud was broken and thats what was creating a ticking noise. I replaced all 4 studs and gasket. The ticking noise was gone. All work needs to be done through the pasenger front wheeel. Just remove the cover and its easy to replace all you need is metric sockets 10mm, 12mm, 13mm, and 15mm. Deep sockets and short. You can only buy the studs at the dealership. They are about $3.00 each. Hope this helps peaps.

I have the same problem. I removed the heat shield and found a broken stud on the driver side. Getting to it from above is a pain. I want to get to it through the wheel well, but I'm not sure how to remove it without breaking all the fasteners. Any help would be appreciated.

There have to be something wrong with the way the bolts are being made. Now my passenger side has broken. I talk to one of the maintenance guy at the Dodge dealership he told me he has seeing more of this problem. They now have a exhaust kit which is suppose to be better. $350 to fix by them. The other guy that did my driver's side closed shop. Bumper!

Could this be the case with a 5.7? I am getting the same exact problem OP described.
