guess I should start looking at some ARP studs for the near future... Has anybody replaced the studs with aftermarket parts and had problems?

There is something really wrong with the way these bolts were manufactured. I had the driver’s side done several months ago now the passenger side broke. The dealer told me it would cost $400 to repair and now they have a new kit for this. So obviously they know of the issue and I don’t think it just wear and tear. Bad product that is costing us! Again.

Should have done your research and bought a real Dodge motor.

What the 5.7? The same motor as Steinebach922 has that could have the same issue. My point was not about what size the motor it is but the parts that used.

Just had the same problem with my 04 Durango. The dealer said the gaskets were fine but the studs were broken. Is it worth it to pay the $550 or is it a moderately easy fix??

Yeah, $500 bucks is way steep. I bought the bolts at the dealer for a few bucks each and did it myself. I went in through the wheel well, took the black wheel well cover thingy off and it was all pretty easy to get to. Took awhile for me to do, but it wasn't so bad.

I just remembered I had a thread about this and took a couple of pics of what it looked like with the wheel well off.
