Default Durango problems

I was driving home yesterday from work in the wife's 04 Hemi ltd, I was going about 55 mph, and went to pass someone. When I pushed on the pedal (to the floor) the engine kicked down as it normally does when i go to accelerate hard, but then it felt like the transmission gave out and my passing gear went away. Also, after that happened, my cruise control stopped working. This morning, when I drove into work, everything was fine, I had my passing gear back and the cruise control worked flawlessly. Any ideas?

Similar problem with mine..except I had the christmas tree turn on followed by a check engine light.

I found the ignition switch is not very good. I can duplicate the condition by moving the key back and forth even just a little.

How big of a wad of keys do you have?

I did and have this same problem, but we are running different engines and my input is probably not helpful.

I have the 4.7L V8 ST model. When I'm at high speed and either turn my OD off or punch the gas, I have no problem getting up to passing speed. When I release, I do feel a large clump or jolt in what feels like my tranny. It feels like it is just shifting very hard. I have an appointment at my local dealer next week to try and figure out the problem.

I will let you know.

the stalling and crazy shifting problems with the Hemi durango (i believe) are solved with a software update/re-flash.... unfortunately the 4.7 like mine has no cause or solution to the stalling or idle problems.
