05 durango rough idle
I have a 05 durango that at idle it runs rough. If feels like its going to shut off but it doesnt. The feeling goes away after I apply fuel. It has shut off by itself a few times in the past at a idle speed, but its been like 4 months since the last shutoff. My wife is worried that she will be stuck somewhere when I wont be able to help out. Has anyone had similar problems or any solutions that I can try. Thanks for you help.

How many miles on the D?? Have you hit 30k yet and changed the plugs???
Also, what kind of shape is the battery in?? If it is 4 years old or more, or should test the least bit flakey replace it.

It has 28500 miles on it. I'll have to check out the battery.

At only 28.5k, plugs should not be an issue. Are still under the 3/36 warranty??? If not, you should still be under the 7/70 powertrain warranty. Depending on what the issue is, it might or might not be covered.
I would have the battery load tested just to rule that out.
What engine do you have?? 4.7 or 5.7??

I put some fuel system cleaner in and it seemed to work, so mabey my fuel injectors need replacement. But right now it has been running good. The battery checked good too.

This was happening to mine. PCV value change corrected the problem. Have you changed it since you had it? $3.60 at your local Auto Zone... Simple fix!
ADD: this would happen to me at a light at idle. The RPMs would drop to about 500 but would never stall. If you pull your vacuum line off, and see oil that means your PCV is locked in the open position, thus causing your rough idle. This is something that should be changed every other oil change, and it's very simple. See my other post for a complete manual and repair of the vehicle..
