'04 Limited w/ 5k miles awful wind noise in cabin :(
I bought a 2004 Limited durango after renting an SLT and liking the performance.
During freeway driving with the Limited I'm noticing awful cabin noise. It sounds
as though I need to role up the windows but they are all closed??
I've been back to the dealer who after the cash purchase of the vehicle doesn't
have that same enthusiasm about servicing me, hmmm...
They (Service dept at Norco Dodge, CA) stated the it is just a design issue as
why I hear the wind noise coming through the side front/rear doors.
Why pay 30K for a vehicle that has an obvious issue with no willing support
from the dealership that sold it to me.
My personal inspection shows that dodge could of installed more of the weather
stripping to dampen / reduce the amount of air that is getting caught between the
door and the vehicle framing.
I need some advise on this as whom I can talk to for some resolution.
Any info someone from Dodge or a service rep can provide would be appreciated.
I'm two pencils shy of filing a complaint asking for my money back...
Great forum / good info (keep it up guys/gals) this type of data can save you $$.
Talk soon...

I have 04 SLT that has the same noise. I haven't taken it to the dealer and complained out it. My friend also has one that produces that same noise at highway speeds. Seems to be with the aerodynamics of the vehicle and/or lack of weather stripping to dampen the noise.
I rented an SLT for a week and it developed the problem during the week.
What I found was that the weather stripping was coming away from the vehicle -- in this case along the left side of the car near the windshield.
Some electrical tape helped to solve the problem, though I think the real difficulty is with how it was attached to the car and the dealer ought to fix it.
Be persistant. After 3 times to the shop for the problem, threaten lemon law use.
They should be able to get it fixed.

MY Limited has the same problem. I can tell it was coming from the drivers front door.
Dealer checked it out and said they adjusted the door... i dont believe them cause i still hear the same noise around 70 MPH

I found that the weather stripping (it's about 18" long) on the front / topof the back passenger door was loose. I glued it back myself. I only hear it now when there is strong cross wind and I'm going over 70.
I have the same thing. I bought mine new in April 05 (left over 04 model). I first noticed it at about 5k and took it in to get adjusted. I now have 7k and it needs it again. With the strong Wyoming cross winds, it is literally unbearable going down the interstate. I honestly struggle to carry on a conversation with the person in the front passenger seat. The doors are so flimsy. If I head south in a west wind, it is the driver's door and vice versa. When I took it in at 5k, the body shop thought I let the wind catch it, which I am sure has not happened. Since the doors were adjusted 2 months ago at 5k, it is just as bad, and I know that there hasn't been a wind spring. The body shop was hesitant to repair it under warranty last time, I am curious to see what happens this time. Today the wind is about 40 mph and I noticed it while driving 30 mph across town. The D has never been wrecked and rarely sees anything other than interstate and town driving. Very poor design. What has anyone else found out???

It gets even worse when you add the sport utility bars. I've added those a few months back and originally they were supposed to come with a wind fairing (pictured in the Adventurer model) but the delaer that I purchased them from said that it was unavailable.
new to the board and hate bringing up old post but man this problem sucks bad. I used 1/2" tube and made a slit into the weather stripping and with alot of wd40 got a piece of tube in there far enough to cover the bend in the door. If you notice where the door meets the jamb at the curve it actually pulls away no adjustment can fix that...Vacume tub helped ALOT but if there is even a little cross wind it is loud. I just crank up the sub then i just hear the sub and the back wiper bouncing off the window. Gotta figure out how to fix that.
mmm... mine is an SLT-05 and I haven't hear anything. I usually drive between 65 to 70mph at freeway. What I do noticed was that the weather strip from the front passenger side door (the one that runs thru the bottom of the door) can easily get loose at one end. The factory plastic clip is not making enough preassure to keep it in place. But, up today, no sounds.
Just a note... a couple of months ago, I installed a Yakima rack on my -D-. That thing makes a lot of wind noise from 45mph and up. I ended up removing it because I just need it for a particular one time use. Anyway, this rack I got it from my previous SUV... not specifically designed for Durango's.
