Default Engine Oil Pressure Light

Hi,

Every morning I'm getting the engine oil pressure light coming on. I turn off the truck and then restart and goes off. The truck has been acting weird when I get a stop light or sign like it's wanting to rev or keep moving forward (minor RPM increase). I don't know if they're related. I've seen on some sites people talking about how the engines are dying because of slush and what not. I've kept oil changes up to date (most myself) and that should not be an issue. Anyone else having this problem?

Check the oil level!

Second, what filter and oil are you using?

I have the identical problem with a 2005 5.7L Durango. The SUV was in the shop last week to have the problem fixed. They changed the oil and comleted an induction service. This did not fix the problem. I believe it is a bad pressure/oil level switch. It is going back to the dealership this week.

The problem occurrs on cold weather days or when the SUV is parked on an incline. The light always goes out after the ignition is turned off the on.

My oil pressure light just started coming on. Two days in a row and it goes off if you turn the truck off n back on. I keep reading about oil sludge buildup in these motors. the symptoms seem the same. I change the oil every 3000 n its only got 45000 miles on it. Its hard to believe that it could have a buildup already. I had to replace a motor in a 2000 intepid for the same problem. Has anyone else had build up in these motors?

Default Problem Fixed

I had it taken to Carmax (thank God I have a warranty) and the problem was the engine oil pressure switch. I was thinking I was going to have a 2004 durango with 50k and a dead engine. That would have sucked!
