Question looking for input

Hi, new and first time user here. Nice to finally find a site like this. We have a 2005 Durango with the 4.7. It is the family vehicle and wife's go-to-work ride. It has been very reliable, and we are very happy with it. We usually get around 20 mpg. We are planning a long summer road trip this in a few months, and I am investigating performance and milage improvements (likely confined to intake/exhaust). Does anyone have experience with the gains I may see? Other ideas? Any input appreciated. Thanks

You are getting 20MPG on a 4 year old Gen2 already? You are where you need to be. Your wife drives the D like a church buggy as it is. Consider that a gift and buy her flowers. She has saved you $100s on gas as it is.

Get a tune up, switch to a premium oil and maybe add a Cold Air Intake. That's it. You are at the high end of the mileage range and should consider that all the Ds got.

Default My milage

Thanks for the response. To be honest, those are Canadian gallons (4.54 litres), no American gallons (3.8 litres). We made 2 trips last year down to Montana, one with the three kids and all that goes with them, and another with a couple friends. One trip thru mountains. On both trips kept close logs and got 20 Cdn on both (which would be 16.5 - 17 American). The main reason I asked is when changing oil I can't help but see the rediculous looking exhaust system with cats, pre-cats, double muffler, twists, turns...... There has got to be a better way... maybe duals from front to back and delete all cats. Any downsides I am missing. No exhaust inspections up here in the frozen north

I have a custom "true" dual exhaust with JBA headers and Manaflow cat-back Mufflers on my 5.7L Hemi. I also have an AEM cold air intake and an underdrive pulley along with ported heads and I did not seee any difference in MPG to my advantage or detriment. Mainly upped horsepower and torque only,
