Default New Exhaust System

I am look to redo the exhaust on a 4.7 2008 D SLT and wondering if anyone has a recommendation? I am considering two options. 1. Keeping the stock resonator and just add a either a new flowmaster 70 series or Magnaflow muffler or 2. Remove the resonator completely and do a straight cat system. Any ideas on how loud it would be without the resonator?

Appreciate the help.

I took my resonator out and it is not much louder that when it was in and I would go with Magnaflow (stainless) over flowmaster. The resonator on the 5.7L was to make it sound like a v-8 when the MDS shut down half the cylinders while crusing, but on the 4.7 it probaly would not make much of a difference,

I put an 18in Magnaflow on removed the resonator and turned it out the side behind the passenger rear tire and it has a nice deep rumble at idle and sounds nice and agressive at mid to high rpms.

Get rid of the resonator. It looks like **** from the rear view.

Not trying to hijack this thread, but I just got an '04 SLT Hemi Durango, and I want it to sound more aggressive, but not drone in the cab so the kids can still watch the dvd player. Will taking out the big (I guess it's about 3' long) resonator make it drone in the cab with an aftermarket muffler? I don't want overly loud, but I do want it to be noticeable and mean sounding. Any suggestions? I like the sound of the Flowmaster 50's, but they are pretty pricey.

Pricey? IIRC, the 50 is like $120, then add $75 to instal and you are in for less than $200.

Well considering that I can get a "Flow Sound" knock off flowmaster 40, for $40, then I can go outside to the garage, cut off old and weld in new for free, I can get it done for $40. Now knowing that, $200 is looking price, isn't it?

No. Flow Sound? LOL

You get what you pay for. If you can weld your self, then pay $70 online for a FM 50 and be done with it.

The Flowsounds are identical to the FM 40's. Flowmaster let their patent expire and Flowsound made an identical muffler for half the price. Supposedly someone has cut them both apart and couldn't tell the difference between one or the other.... I just think a FM 40 would drone too much in the cab, so that's why I was wanting the 50.
