Default P0700 Code on '06 5.7 L Hemi AWD

This is the strangest thing and I think I have a clue, but not sure if it makes sense or not, so I am posting here.

While driving our fairly new to us Durango this afternoon I got a car wash. Shortly after the wash I made a quick stop for about five minutes - engine off. Upon returning the engine MIL light was on and the transmission seems to be doing funny things. It doesn't really go anywhere until about 2000 RPM s and even then shifting is not normal.

My quick research on the forum shows that the P0700 code is a general transmission code, but my question is related to the car wash. Could this be a piece of the puzzle? Could the wash have dislodged something? Praying for a stupidly simple fix.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Ben

transmssion defaults to limp mode to get vehicle to service- don't dog it operate conservatively - suggest you take advantage of free scans at some parts stores post any codes-

you could look at transmisssion for pulled or damaged wiring, knowing any and all codes is the place to start.

ADK BEN- yes there are more codes- You mentioned "specific" that has meaning in this OBDII computer world.

As mentioned NOT all codes will turn on CEL, and some codes are called manufacturers "specific" in this case greater than P0999

....So a scanner will be needed AND it must be capable of displaying those specific codes ...some inexpensive code readers donot have Manu specific and other capability

I will suggest again you take advantage of the free scan available as a cuustomer service - autozone is one store that will help..

Thanks... Upon starting this morning it was no longer in limp mode. I gingerly drove it over to the dealer who has it now. We'll see... think cheap fix!!

could have something to do with the boost pressure switch on the side of the tranny. did you get a under body car wash? could of just got a little water in there and it dried over night. not sure if that you put it in limp mode- but it definately would do something

Unfortunately, a new transmission was the end result. All is well now, but what seemed like a freak thing led to the dealer informing me that I would need a new transmission

Just thought I would add some closure on my issue. Took it to the main dealer, feared the worst, he called and told me it was a relay and it would cost me about $140. Not bad, well I went and picked up the car, got the final out the door total.... It cost me $122.28, I am very happy now
