Default Durango wouldn't start...clicking noise

Hi guys,

The other night the Durango wouldn't start, when I turned the key all I got was clicking noice, I thought maybe a problem with battery but interior lights came on and weren't dim. We jumped it and started fine, last time it did this we replaced the battery. Could it be the battery or something else?

What year is your Durango? It could be the starter,

It is a battery issue first. Not necessarily a bad battery but could be.

Check the terminal connections for tightness. If you can move them side to side on top of the battery, they are not tight and that could be the problem right there.

IF that checks out, battery could be bad (again.) Why? No idea how old the one you have is but the alternator could also be going out, thus not charging the battery correctly, thus the failed battery again.

If the connections are good, get a full charge on the battery and see if that helps. If not, get the battery tested under load at your local Auto Zone or the like. If it is bad, replace and also have the alternator checked.

1-2-3-done.

Good luck.

I have a 2006 Dodge Durango. When I turn my key i got nothing but clicking. I jump started it and it started right up. Then engine light was on so I went to Autozone to have it computer checked. It said it was the crank shaft position sensor, so I bought one and replaced it. It started fine several times, but a few hours later it was back to clicking again.

Did you not see the post above yours? Standard triage for the symptom should be done first. If that doesn't work, proceed from there.

If you jumped your D and THAT worked, of course it wasn't the CPS. A jump would not solve the CPS issue just as a new CPS will not solve an electrical startup voltage issue.
