Default engine knock / tick inside cab at idle

After I did a tuneup, I got a new knock / tick sound. I think it is an electrical sound. It can only be heard from inside a quiet cab at idle. It changes rate with the engine rpm's. It makes nearly the same sound as the injectors when I did a sounding on the engine parts. I re-did the plug seating and no change. I did goof on the tuneup and left 2 spark plugs disconnected when I started the engine for 30 seconds. Maybe the computer adjusted something. '05 Durango 5.7L Hemi with 60k. Any ideas?

The computer will reset itself after a certain number of start ups. Put a higher grade of gasoline in and see if the knock subsides,

I tried 89 octane, but no change in the sound. Thanks for the tip.

Mine does the same thing.
2004 Hemi 137k mileage. Started doing it at 130k.

Have you found anything out? I put in 89 octane with no change.

The sound goes away after a few minutes running.

I have had no change in my ping. I can only hear it during an idle in a quiet cab. From the engine side, it does sound the same as an injector pinging / ticking. It is only the change in sound from inside my cab after a tuneup that is my situation. Good Luck.

There are threads about the Hemi tick, but why this happened after the tune-up is strange,

Default Same prob with '03 durango

I did a tune-up on mine around 100k and never heard anything till afterwards. What the hell. Now of course my wife thinks I don't know how to work on cars. I've been a mech almost my whole life and this is beyond me.

Default Tick in cabin coming from motor

My tick noise continues and increases with engine RPM but is only noticeable for the first few minutes during startup. My brother (an engineer) thinks it is a valve lifter.

Could it be the PCV Valve? I have not replaced mine in a LONG time. Probably 60-80k miles.

On a side note, I am still running the original spark plugs and wires since the car was brand new. My father worked for Chrysler as an engineer and has his masters in mechanical engineering. He was the original owner of the vehicle. He never replaces spark plugs until they go out. Since the car has 140k on it, this has saved nearly 3000 in maintenance the car is running just awesome (aside from the annoying tick at startup). Had 20.7 mileage on last road trip.

Hopefully someone on this forum has an idea why the tick is happening.

Spark plugs should be changed every 30,000 miles,
