Default my 04 durango wont shift out of park...help!!!

well first of all let me explain abit of what happened. was driving around at my place of employment, everything was fine. stopped at the office to go inside and clock out, pu tthe truck in park, left it running, went in and punch out on the time clock, then turned around and went out and got back in the durango. put my foot on the brake, went to shift, and nothing, it wont come out of park. now i have no tail lights either. thought it was the brake light switch, so i went and bought a new one at napa, installed it, still nothing. checked the fuses, replaced 3 blown fises under the hood, still nothing. im stumped. i know there is a brake/transmission interlock on the truck, is there anyways to override that? what else can i look for? please someone help...

thanks in advance...

You may want to repost this in the second generation Durango section as this is the general forum, but try this link:

try that link or unplug the brake light switch and try to just pull the shift lever out of park, that worked on mine

Check the other threads on this, but briefly - pull the rubber boot at the base of the shift lever and push the little tab in to let it shift. Keep your foot on the brake. Lube that mechanism as soon as you can.
