Hmmmm - good thinking - Ill check rear brakes tonight - then I guess will need to have someone else check the sensors since they arent throwing an error code, huh?

rear brakes are good and engaging. front brakes are also good (pad/rotor wear is good)

Ive been driving with the ESP button off (so dash light is constant on) and doesnt seem to have same issue.

So Im thinking with ESP on, it must be a bad sensor in traction control system or something related 'engaging' when shouldnt.

I havent had a chance to take it to a shop yet.

you should check the sensors and the cog at each wheel and make sure they all look the same, clean, straight, no frayed wires etc... could be an easy and cheap fix. Thank god its not a toyota!

ok so yesterday I got a GASCAP error on the odometer and my dash also started to flash the tire psi warning and security alarm indicator (red dot) lights for no reason as well.
Took it to my independent this morning - he got ti to do all fo the things I have been discussing and came up with the following:

Error codes:
P0513 (incorrect immobilizer key) WTF does that mean??
B2100 - couldnt find explanation for this error

and also found that there is a Technical Service Bulletin for 2007 Durangos that says the ECM needs to be reflashed at a Dealer as an electrical/computer issue with ESP Traction Control light is known

I wonder if the reflash will clear the other errors as well?!?

Anybody know if I can reflash without Dealer invovlement?

If the TSB says it "needs" to be reflashed, just man-up and let the dealer take a look at it and perform their updates.

I feel your pain. I hate the stealer and avoid them as much as possible too.

ok - I have no problem 'manning up' but I dont know this is cause/solution yet

the saga continues some more:
Dealer this morning says the error codes exist, but that a reflash will NOT resolve the problem. His claim is that the problems are all stemming from an aftermarket alarm (installed by the previous dealer, prior to my buying the vehicle) supplying 12volt to the 'Mukk???' style Ignition Switch, he also called it a CAN system??
His solution is to replace the ignition switch and remove aftermarket alarm - cost $600 bucks.
So I told him to hold off while I research. The previous dealer is OOB of course, but I was able to find the company that installed the alarm for the dealer - they say there is NO WAY their alarm would foul the system and that it doesnt put power to anything, rather it just piggybacks the factory system - and that they continue to install these on 07up models without problem.

So now Im not sure what to do!

Anybody heard of aftermarket alarm causing these problems? Shoudl I trust the current dealer that a bad ignition switch could be the 'Ghost in the Machine'

CANN bus is the electrical system the electronics use to move signals around on your Durango.

Disconnect the alarm and go from there. Don't mess with removal, just disconnect and further diagnose accordingly.

Thanks for clarification Indy. I looked a little further into this 'Aftermarket alarm' that the dealer is claiming to have cause catastrophic failure of the ignition switch.

It is called a Power Plug - Autombile Starter Disabler System by APDirect LLC - I cant find any information online about them at all but the product is basically the same as Loctronics.
Exaplanation fo the device:
its designed to interrupt the vehicles starter circuit. When the provided security key is inserted into the receptical, the vehicle will start. When the key is removed from the receptical, the vehicle is disabled

I will disconnect as suggested above, but I cant for the life of me see how this product could short circuit an ignition switch (This is the claim from Dealer)

I had the dealer reflash the system, but on the drive home last night, it continued to do the same thing, so I think the delaer may be right that the problem is in a bad ignition switch, I just have a problem with it being blamed (and therefore unwarrantied) on a device that the dealer installed!

does anyone have experience, or a link/how to replace an ignition switch on this vehicle? Its a difference of $50 part and $500 labor at dealer.
