2009 Durango SLT
hey guys. Wondering if someone here can help me.
i bought a 2009 Durango SLT in Nov to replace a 2006 SLT that I had leased. My '06 had an audible alarm (BEEP-BEEP-BEEP!!!) that sounded whenever the liftgate was opened or closed via the remote.
When I first got my '09 I noticed the alarm didn't sound. I didn't see anything mentioned in the book so i figured it was no longer included. However, the alarm actually sounded a few times during the last few months. Took it in for service a few weeks ago and asked the dealer to look into it. Was told they had to adjust one of the liftgate latches. Picked up the truck yet the alarm still was not sounding.
So I showed the Service Advisor. He told me when I brought the truck back (bad ParkAssist Sensor) they would look into it further. So now, after dropping it off again, I am being told that Chrysler stopped making the audible alarms on all minivans and Durangos because of customer feedback starting with the 2009 model year. In other words, it is impossible for me to have heard the alarm because my truck is not equipped with it. But the only thing they did was check my truck with their DRB and they couldn't find an option to diagnose it.
I know what I heard. I'd like to know if there is a way for me to check for myself inside the liftgate or the rear panels for the alarm module. Does anyone have access to schematics and can tell me where this module is mounted? I mean, why would it sound intermittently like that?
Thanks in advance...

Sounds like they are blowing smoke up......Who would complain of a beeping sound when the door was opening / closing that they would delete it for the 2009 year? I quess it could be possible, but it seems very odd to me. Maybe call around to other dealers and ask them if they have a 2009 with the audible alarm (maybe dogs can hear it). I like mine because I have two young daughters and it reminds them to stand clear of the liftgate,

They showed me the Chrysler case file where it stated reason for it being taken out of the vehicles was customer feedback that it was annoying. But this still doesn't explain why I have heard the alarm on my truck before.
I also have two young daughters and agree that the audible alarm is a necessity...
