I also filed a complaint with NHTSA regarding the fuel overspill. I read through the other thread, and it hasn't seen any updates since June 2010. I hope something is done. In the meantime, I am trying to stop fueling before the tank is full. I tried this last night, and I stopped too late. Spilled fuel all over my shoe because I was too slow.

My 2007 just started to have this problem which is great since my dealer is long gone and my warranty ran out six months ago. The other dealers never heard of this problem and now I have a Durango with a blowhole,

After the pump clicks off, leave the pump nozzle in the filler tube for an extra several seconds. This way when the gush happens, it hits the nozzle, and drains down the side of the Durango rather than getting all over you. Take some paper towels (usually available at any gas station right next to the windshield washer squeegee) and wipe the gas off the side of the vehicle so it doesn't sit on there and eat your paint.

Thats what I will be doing until (if) Dodge does a recall on them.

I used the window washing squeegee for the first time. I then went home and put a microfiber towel with my quick detailer in the back storage space. I called Dodge (Chrysler/Fiat) and they gave me a case number after a rep called me back. At first they did not want to admit anything was wrong until I explained to them that I have a 3-1/2 year old, a 2 year old and a 1-1/2 month baby girls strapped into car seats as flammable liquid is blowing over the concrete next ot a hot exhaust posing a fire hazzard. I quess trapped kids and a blazing inferno stepped it up form 'nothing we can do' to 'we will pay for the repairs'. I should mention that I am almost always alone while I fill up and it overflows very lightly, more of a ooze than a full blowout like the video

have the same problem on my wifes 06 durango since she has had it. Dodge also was of no help on this as basically they wanted us to pay for the repair when it sounds like the issue that the 05's had.

submitted my complaint.

My 05 has a very bad "blow hole" as well. I filled complaint with NHTSA and also with Dodge. Dodge claims to have no clue what Im talking about, but with the amount of fuel I am leaving it wont be long before something has to happen. I cant run the pump slow enough of catch it fast enough to avoid it. Then cant trust parking inside my garage due to the fumes. Terrible situation....... nearly enough to make me call it quits on the Durango.

Dodge is putting a new tank in mine no questions asked. Its a 08 but the entire gas tank must be replaced. Its been a common problem with the check valves in the tanks for years.

Good luck
