Location of the oil pressure sensor - 04 5.7
Hello,
I bought an 04 5.7 Durango about a year ago. About 98k on it now and it runs great. The oil pressure light comes on when the car is started on cold mornings. Shut the car off and start it again and it goes out. After doing some research on this board it seems like a not to uncommon problem on cold days and it is most likely the sensor. I'm going to order a new one and replace it myself, but I'm not sure where it is at.
Can anyone help, and describe or show a picture of the location of the oil pressure sensor?
Thanks,
Veronica

Yes, the sending unit. (Sorry, that's what I ment by sensor.) Where is it at? Can anyone give me a description? Left side, right side, to the right of the oil filter, etc. I've searched here but I haven't found an old thread that descibes where it is at.

This is for the 5.9, but it may be close to the 5.7:

Had the exact same issue with my 04 5.7L at 53K. Sender threads into the block just about mid way up the front passenger side of the block.
AZ had the part for ~$23. Took all of 15 mins to install once I figured out access was easier from bottom, although you can see it from top.

Thanks for the info. I haven't gotten around to this yet. It's warmer now so I don't have the light on the dash to remind me to get on it ; )
I'll take some pics when I do it and post them for reference.

I have discovered since my previous post that removing the air filter housing allows a very good unobstructed view of the oil sender from above.
To remove the filter housing, there are two bolts (13mm I think) that secure it to the fender. Also, remove the large intake hose by loosening the worm gear hose clamp that attaches it to the housing, and lift the housing up and out of the way
