Default Want a bigger trans cooler

I think my 06 4.7 2wd D is only rated to pull about 3500lbs. or so. If I was to load a car on a car hauler, it would easily go over this figure. I think the motor and rear could handle it, but I was concerned about keeping the tranny temps down. I noticed it had a tube and fin style cooler in the front but it didnt seem large enough to me. Anybody ever swap it out to a bigger one or even change to a plate type cooler?

If you have the tow package.....You can pull more than 3500lbs......The least you could tow is 5900

just putting on a bigger trans cooler wont help you towing any more. Get some helper springs for the rear or bigger gears for the rear end.

The truck didnt come with a tow package. I installed a receiver hitch and wiring. I thought the truck was only rated to tow 3500 lbs. The trans cooler would help keep the trans cool on long trips in 100 degree heat.

After some research I know I have the 9.25 rear, 3.55 gear, and the truck is 2wd and didnt have a hitch/wiring when we bought it. I have seen a cooler I believe in front on the passenger side.

Basically Im wanting to know could this truck pull say a 16ft car hauler and say a 3500lb car? Which I would assume is about 5500lbs?
