Default Remote starter signals

Good day,

I have recently purchased an 05 Durango SLT with an aftermarket Dodge remote starter. The previous owner says the starter has a 'querk' about it and it doesn't always start. Since I have owned it ( about a month now), it gives me the following running light signals when the starter is pressed;
Senerio 1: first press = one flash, second press = one flash, the truck starts but runs for 5 seconds
Senerio 2: first press = one flash, second press = two flashes, the truck doesn't start
Senerio 3: first press = two flashes, second press = two flashes, the truck doesn't start
Senerio 4: first press = two flashes, second press = two flashes, the alarm sounds, truck doesn't start
Senerio 5 (this has happened, but not often): first press = one flash, second press = one flash, truck starts and stays running !

It should be noted that the previous owner replaced the ABS sensor in the back drivers wheel, and replaced the Throttle Position Sensor as well.
The truck runs perfect and I am very happy with it.

Does anyone know what the signal responses mean ? My local dealership here in Ontario has been no help - unless they are getting their $100/hr shop fee !

Thanks in advance.

Check the hood pin for the remote start. You should press twice the button for the remote start and it should start. I had a problem with mine , it would only make on horn beep. Ichecked the hood pin pressed it with my finger and used the remote start and it worked. So i put a rubber sleve over the pin so that it get more pressure from the hood when is closed and worked like a charm. I called the dealer and they wanted $60.00 for that hood pin/switch. So check your pins and check the battery!! Good luck!!!!

Okay, I'll look at the hood pin over the weekend. The battery was replaced about three weeks ago. I figured it was something more serious because of the signals I was recieving. They seem to change from time to time.

Hi again,
I went out this morning and looked for the hood switch... no hood switch. I was looking for a device that compressed when the hood closed. I didn't find any. I kept looking and found the device that detected the state of the hood. It was a gravity switch, located behind the hinge on the drivers side. I tapped it a few times and moved it so the hood would appear closed when in fact it was 3/4 opened. After closing the hood, I tried the remote starter a couple of times and it worked perfectly. I will continue to test it over the weekend and if it fails again, I now know what to replace.
Thanks for the suggestion !
Cheers.
