Trouble Getting Engine Codes to Appear
My wife has a 2006 Durango Limited 5.7L
Recently through a check engine light.
read on here how to get the codes to pop up in the odometer and I spent about 15 minutes trying to get them to appear.
Suddenly when I was just about to give up, it showed up, but didn't do the DONE portion, just a long ---------- line .
Now, before I tried this, I did go to autozone and have them code read it, and they found nothing.
So, is it possible that this code had self cleared at some point, then reappeared?
I tried to get it to come back on via the "off/on" method but no go after that weird showing up. So I decided to just do a reset via removing the battery connection and will see if the light comes on again.
Anyone else have issues getting the code to come up?
Am I going too fast / slow when doing the On/off back and forth?

the one code that did pop up with P0406 .
Got a thread about that elsewhere, with my wife driving the vehicle after I reset the check engine light and its off for now. I may try my first real car repair here myself by replacing the EGR.

funny thing is that when I went to autozone the first time, no codes showed up. I did the on-off routine when I got home from there and then a code showed up. I am going to do that again today, and also probably swing by autozone as well to reconfirm prior to the NFL game tonight.
