Hi,
I'm tryimg to figure out where I went wrong everything i have done to improve my gas milage has reduced it I put 3 inch cat back exhaust with a magnaflow and a 4 inch tip i cut the front of the air box out cut the rubber in the grill and clipped it to the side by rhe radiator and put the extra piece over the opening in the top and put in a k&n filter diconnecteted the pcv fresh air inlet and extended the tube over to the tire side of the air box and put a K&N cone filter on it and cut off the the Air resinator box and piped it under the air box and put a k&n cone filter on it and installed 2 air vents in the lower bumper and piped them under the air box and installed a tornado and changesd the tires from the 245/75/17 to the 265/70/17 with all that my milage has dropped in half and thats even on freeway trips with the cruise control on.

I would think that the engine is not tuned correctly since you made alterations to the airflow,

No problem. You can buy a tuner such as Diablo Predator, but you will need a dyno to fine tune it,

why did you widen the tires? too much exhaust might hurt your mileage as well but a single 3" pipe shouldn't be that bad. I would recommend a tuner as well

JRM:

What kind of mileage are you trying to achieve? I have to laugh at times when folks think they are going to make something with 300+ HP weighing over 5000 pounds and having the aerodynamics of a barn door get 25mpg. IT JUST AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN!!!!

The window sticker on my D says 13 city and 18 highway. All in all, that is pretty much right on. The 06 and newer models with the MDS system will hit 20 on the highway IF you keep your foot out of it.

Weight + horsepower+ no aerodynamics do not an economy car make.

Think about it please.

I average 12 MPG and I drive on a turnpike for half of my daily commute. I have made many modifications such as ported cylinder heads, cam shaft, exhust headers and a tuner. These actually made my fuel mileage get worse as it is hard to be light footed with the additional horsepower. My Demon gets about 8 MPG and it has to weigh half of my Durango,
