2005 Durango idling rough
My 2005 Durango, 5.7, has been idling very rough and the check engine light is on. It feels like it is going to stall the entire time you are driving it. I've had it in the shop and he has checked everything he can think of, new computer, reprogramming, replace O2 sensor, clean the throttle body. He told me to take it to the dealer. They are saying its a wiring issue and wants $400 just to diagnose the problem. Any one else had trouble like this? Just want to fix it so I can get rid of it.
Do the key dance to obtain the trouble codes. Turn the key to on (not run) and back to off three times. There will then a P**** displayed on the odometer. The 2005 did have a recall on the wiring that poses a fire hazzard. Dodges website has a rcall section that you can plug your VIN into to determine if yours is afffected:

Kellie:
How many miles on your Durango? How old is the battery? If you have not, have it load tested to be sure it is up to snuff. Replace it if is comes back the least bit flaky.
Sounds like your mechanic has thrown a bunch of parts in there without a really good idea of where the issue is.
Recent;y had another Hemi owner with a similar situation, and it looks like he will be getting a new fuel pump.
When was the last time it was tuned up??????????????????
